Ontario takes a step forward to deal with Hate Crime
Ontario Legislature, on April 16, 2026, has passed Motion 58, introduced by MPP Michelle Cooper and supported by CoHNA, to establish a specialized team of prosecutors dedicated solely to handling hate crimes, addressing a gap where such cases are often weakened or dropped. This team with specialized training in modern day crimes will ensure consistent, effective prosecution of hate-based incidents across the province.
